Today, the District Council issued a statement to the public opinion, regarding the tensions caused by the NDF's mercenaries in Qamishlo, the statement was read by the co-chair of the Qamishlo District Council, Mona Farouk.

And the text of the statement reads:

"The recent events witnessed in Qamishlo following the movements of the so-called National Defense mercenaries and their attack on the checkpoints of the Asayiş is evidence of their desire to inflame the discord among the components of the region and to undermine its security."

The statement added: "The tensions that the NDF's mercenaries create are evidence that they serve foreign agendas and do not serve the national interest, as the peoples in all of northeast Syria and of all components coexist in fraternity and there have been no wars or conflicts between them."

The statement affirmed: "The tensions by the NDF's mercenaries and their assassination of the administrator in the Asayiş, the martyr Khaled Hajji, and the Wajih clan of the Saba'a al-Bunni clan, the martyr Hayes al-Jarban, is nothing but an attempt to strike the brotherhood in the region, in particular the Kurdish and Arab."

The statement indicated: “The Internal Security Forces are seeking to clean the Tayy neighborhood at the present time from those mercenaries at the request of the people of the region, in particular from the Arab component in the Tayy neighborhood, and that the Qamishlo District Council is fully prepared to accommodate the displaced from the Tayy neighborhood until it is completed. In its conclusion, the statement appealed to all components of northeast Syria not to be dragged behind the ploys weaved by the so-called NDF's mercenaries and those who support them. The people of the region should rally around establishing the concept of a democratic nation and building a pluralistic, democratic and decentralized Syria.
