Al-Shahba - Linda Sheikh

More than three years have passed since the Turkish army and its mercenaries occupied Afrin canton, after the people of the region resisted for 58 days.

In these attacks, the Turkish state also wanted to fight women's will, gained during the Rojava revolution, but their continuous resistance, thwarted their plans.

Despite the displacement, the Turkish occupier continues to attack their places of displacement, as the villages of al-Shahba canton are attacked almost daily to dozens of shells.

Within two years, the Turkish occupation army committed two massacres in the Tal Rifaat sub-district of al-Shahba canton, in which 13 martyrs were killed, most of them children.

Afrin's displaced women today, in al-Shahba canton, continue to resist the attacks, as the young Farida Muhammad told our agency: “We are proud of our women’s resistance, which they have shown 3 years ago against all brutal attacks.”

She added: If we do not waste our strength for the sake of resistance and the attempts of the Turkish occupation and its crimes against women, then no country will stand by our side, and no one will extend a helping hand to us, and we will remain under the shadow of the bombing of the occupier.

Farida affirmed that despite everything, the will of women will not weaken. She noted, "We are continuing with the resistance of Leader Ocalan with his free and democratic thought."

Farida pointed to the partial withdrawal of Russian forces from Tal Rifaat and Kashtar, and said, "This will not change anything from the course of our lives. We will not relate to anyone's personality because we have a strong will."

For her part, Zainab Suleiman said: "Everyone knows that Tal Rifaat district is the most bombed place, and there have been many massacres in which dozens of martyrs, most of them children, have been killed. All of these plans were aimed at targeting the resistance of Afrin women."

She added: Afrin women have not forgotten the resistance in occupied Afrin for 58 days, so there will be nothing hindering our resistance because our eyes are always on the way back home.

As for the citizen, Farida Hamo, she explained: "We were forcibly displaced from Afrin to al-Shahba canton, and despite immigration and all the difficult circumstances, we proved our presence again and re-established our work in a communal manner."

Farida said at the conclusion of her speech, "We, the women of Afrin, will highlight our role in the struggle and resistance until the last breath, and our first and last demand is to return to Afrin under the shadow of humanity and peace."
