PYD blesses Çarşema Sor as revival of Yazidi identity

This came through a statement issued by the General Council of the Democratic Union Party on the Yazidi New Year's Day, in which he said:

"We congratulate all the Kurdish and Yazidi people, especially on the Yazidi New Year, which falls on the first Wednesday of April, Eastern Time.

These historical events are considered to be the cultural and historical richness of the societies Syria and peoples of Mesopotamia, and they express the true partnership between the components, as each cultural and religious heritage is a component that adds beauty to the rest of the components.

 Red Wednesday (Çarşema Sor) carries deep historical meanings for the Yezidi Kurds and expresses the cultural and religious identity.

On this occasion, we congratulate the Yazidi component and all of our people, considering this holiday a revival of the historical and cultural identity that the enemies of humanity have tried to obliterate and annihilate over the years.

We hope that all of our people celebrating this holiday need to take the necessary measures and abide by the curfew, in the interest of public safety.

Every year, our Yazidi people and all components of our people do a thousand good. "
