Afrin, al-Shahba people affirm resilience

Today, the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries resumed shelling the villages of Sherawa district of Afrin canton with dozens of rockets, after a night of intense indiscriminate shelling of civilians.

Yesterday, the Turkish occupation bombardment targeted the villages of Aqiba, Sughankeh-Beneh in Sherawa district, as the bombardment focused on the village of Aqiba, and resulted in inflicting financial damage to civilian homes.

The shelling also affected the villages of Maranaz, Shawargha, Alqamiyeh, in Shera district, in addition to the villages of Tel Rifat, Deir Jamal, Sheikh Hilal and Ta'ana district of al-Shahba canton.

While monitoring the people's opinions and following up the situation in the village of Aqiba, the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries again targeted the vicinity of the village itself, in addition to the village of Beneh, with more than 500 shells.

In this context, the citizen Yunus Atash from Afrin who resides in Aqiba village, said: "The Turkish occupation and its mercenaries have been targeting us since three years. Last night, they targeted us directly."

Atash added: "Violations continue on an almost daily basis, but last night and until this day, the occupation intensified its targeting of civilians, as the number of shells has so far reached more than 500 artillery and missile shells."

The elderly Maryam Ahmed, a resident from Aqiba village, said: "Yesterday evening, the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries targeted our house with more than 11 shells, which were distributed around the house, causing material damage, as this bombardment was the most violent. We thank Allah that the family members were not harmed."

Maryam confirmed that this is not the first time that the Turkish occupation intends to target the village, as it is aiming to empty the village of its residents to occupy it, as they did in Afrin previously.

For his part, the citizen Ismail Mohammed of Afrin displaced, asked: "Why is the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries targeting the populated villages directly, while international organizations are silent about it?"

Mohammed continued his speech by saying: "The Turkish occupation did not just displace us from our homes, but rather sought to displace us from the villages of Sherawa and Al-Shahba canton once again with the aim of occupying the area."

Ismail Mohammed concluded his speech saying: "Our resistance is continuing in the face of the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries, and we will increase the pace of our resistance until Afrin is liberated. The Turkish occupation by bombing inhabited villages with civilians to empty them could not undermine our will. Whatever they are doing to us, we will not back down from our resistance."

It is worth mentioning that the bombardment of the Turkish occupation was accompanied by the over flights of Turkish reconnaissance planes and Russian warplanes.
