With the start of the Turkish attack and its mercenaries, so-called the "Syrian National Army" on Serekaniye and Girê Spi on October 9, 2019, and outskirts of Zarkan sub-district, the suffering on the front lines began.

It separates Zarkan district and its villages from the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries, a distance of 1-2 km, while the first is exposed almost daily to attacks and shelling of the occupation and its mercenaries.

About Zarkan

There are 60 villages in Zarkan district, of which the occupation and its mercenaries occupied nearly 25 villages, including more than 10 villages located on the lines of contact, with a population of 50,000, of whom more than 28,000 were displaced, after the Turkish occupation attacks on Serekaniye.

Following the ceasefire agreement concluded by Russia with the Turkish occupation state in 2019, members of the Damascus government forces deployed at the border points in most villages of Zarkan sub-district.

Complaint

Arab Khan village, located in the south of the district, 2 km away from the Turkish occupation areas and its mercenaries, is inhabited by only 7 families out of 25, as a result of the displacement due to the bombing of the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries.

There is a Russian police station in the village, as well as several points for members of the Damascus government forces, from whom the villagers complain about the looting.

Witness

Our correspondent met with a number of the villagers.

Sabiha Al-Nasser, said: "I was a witness to the Turkish bombing and its direct targeting of civilian homes."

She went on to say: “With the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries beginning their attacks on Zarkan district, I made my decision to stay in my home and village, but after the Syrian regime deployed its forces in the border areas, in our village as well, then its members forcibly evicted me from my house.”

And she continued: "After months, I returned to my house to see it looted by the elements of the Syrian regime, who spread over the entire border strip on the basis of protecting the people."

Sabiha confirmed that while she was leaving the village, there was no force in the village except the Damascus government forces, and she explained that while the Syrian Democratic Forces were in the village, they felt safe and secure, as for the government forces, they only loot our homes.

After nreturn, our belongings looted

On his part, Radwan Ali Muhammad,  said: “Because of the constant bombardment on the village and the Zarkan area, we had to leave our village towards Darbasiyah district, and there we stayed for about a month to move afterwards to the city of Hasaka.”

He added, "After we returned to the village, we saw that the regime forces were stationed in our homes and had looted all our possessions, from home furniture to windows and doors, to cutting my car. I saw it with my own eyes in their car."

Safety

Radwan concluded his speech by saying: "The Syrian Democratic Forces have maintained the security and safety of the people, unlike the Syrian regime, who came to our villages and land to plunder our property."

The return of the Syrian Democratic Forces

In his turn, Saleh Hassan Abdullah said: “We were looted and looted by the regime’s elements, after we were forced to leave our homes and went to the Assyrian villages in the Tal Tamr district.”

Abdullah demanded the return of the Syrian Democratic Forces to the region, and their protection from the violations and massacres of Turkey and its mercenaries.
