​​​​​​​YPJs became worldwide resistance icons

the 8th annual anniversary of the creation of the Women's Protection Units, the YPJ, a statement is being issued by the Women's Council in the Union Democratic Party, the PYD, reads as follows:

'' the YPJs have become icons for resistance and revolution that changed the balance of thought in Middle East and the world at large in formulating and forming the identity of the striving woman to protect herself and achieve freedom, that necessitates to reflect on the phase that gave birth to such units, making way for the feminist struggle to adopt a new approach not regarding the Kurdish woman rather at the world stage more specifically the Syrian one, that was inflicted with repression, marginalization and enslavement in the period of the patriarchal authoritarianism''.

With the start of the July 9^th, Revolution, the Syrian women never kept hands folded rather she participated in revolutionary and struggling fight and made sacrifices, with the creation of their own units they played their prominent role in the lead against the authoritarian mentality and terror as well as extremism, that swept the whole region. Crushing victory were attained by the YPJs militarily and politically, the unmatched heroism put up in Kobane, Raqqa and Afrin are all examples for the whole world to follow suit in academies to be made into realities''.

''the YPJs proved their capability of leadership in the great victory attained in Baghouz the last bastion of the extremist ideology, all this made such units models to be followed suit on the international arenas, on this occasion, we express our congratulations on this victories to martyrs of freedom (Revan, Barin, Avesta, and their striving comrades).  

The establishment that was on April 4^th, corresponding to the leader Ocalan's birthday, founder of the free life led by women, was not by chance, all what have been attained by YPJs and the sacrifices made in North Eastern Syria under the thought of Ocalan and all battles were rays of hope for promotion and sublimity for the Syrian and global freedom''. 

On this day we express congratulations to our fighters, and assure that we are adopting the course of martyrs to meet all aspirations and build a new democratic life for all components''.
