April 1st marks the Akitu Day which is being celebrated by Chaldean Syriacs and Assyrians as a day of revival and resurrection, on which a statement was released by the MFS reads as follows:

On April 1ST, since 6771 our Chaldean Syriac Assyrian people in Mesopotamia celebrate the Akitu Day, the new Babylonian Year marking life, renewal and resurrection.

The Syriac Military Council has been from the very day of creation a symbol for resistacne and repellence, and it held responsibility to stand up to every foreign aggression against our people most notably the unjust aggression against our ancestral lands.

Today we celebrate the Akitu Day that represents and embodies cultural and historical denotations, with all connotations of welfare to life and nature it has, this Day has  immense values that were established by our forefather thousands of years ago in Bethnahrain, the home of most ancient civilizations, that are observed and renewed up to date, confirming that past is linked to present.

On this sublime day we express our congratulations to all our Chaldean Syrian Assyrian people as well as all peoples of the region and the world at large, and our heroes in military forces, namely martyrs' families wishing it to bring love, peace and glory''.

Glory to our brave martyrs''.
