Dozens of members of the Yazidis' Union of Afrin canton gathered in front of their center in Al-Ahdath district in Al-Shahba canton, to make a statement about the plots being hatched against the people of Shengal by the Turkish occupation, the Iraqi government and the Kurdistan Regional Government.

The statement was read in Arabic by the Co-chair of the Union, Mustafa Nebo, and in Kurdish by the Member of the Union, Orivan Mannan. The text of the statement read:

"Successive campaigns the Yazidis in Shengal were exposed to, the harshest and most painful of which was the campaign launched by the terrorist organization ISIS in 2014, where its brutality and intensity unprecedented, and the Turkish state, the Iraqi government and the Kurdistan Regional Government bear the consequences of that brutality."

The statement added: "All this and the governments of Iraq and the Region were far from what was going on in terms of battles and heroics against ISIS as if it did not concern them, until Turkey instructed them to play their role in striking the stability and peaceful coexistence, which the components present in Shengal used to enjoy, through an agreement that smelled like Turkish conspiracy."

The Yazidis Union of Afrin declared its solidarity with the people of Shengal, and appealed to: “the concerned countries, human rights organizations and the United Nations to pressure the Turkish government to withdraw its forces from the Kurdistan Region and deter the Iraqi government from exposing Shengal to a new tragedy."
