Deir Ezzor people: Ocalan spreads liberal democratic ideology, and we demand liberating him

Turkish social media circulated news about the deteriorating health of leader Ocalan, which was met with anger by the peoples of NE Syria, and called on the international community to fulfill its responsibilities towards the leader's health.

Yesterday, the Human Rights Office announced that the leader Ocalan had been contacted, as his brother Muhammad Ocalan went to the court of Urfa and communicated with him by phone.

While the Leader's Freedom Committee in NE Syria explained to ANHA agency that three-minute call is not sufficient to verify Ocalan's health, and a direct meeting with him must be approved quickly.

In this context, Anas Al-Rahim, from the village of Abu Hammam, in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, said: “Recently, news about the deterioration of the health of Ocalan in the Turkish prison went viral on social media.

'Violation of international covenants'

He emphasized that this "falls within the special war policy pursued by the Turkish state to fight the Kurdish presence in particular and the peoples yearning for freedom and democracy in general."

Pointing out that "the Turkish state continues isolation against the leader in Imrali prison, striking all laws, international treaties and covenants, and violating laws related to human rights."

'We reject Ottomanism and Turkish interventions'

Al-Rahim directed his speech to the Turkish regime, saying, "If you want to restore the alleged Neo-Ottoman hegemony, this is impossible and unacceptable," stressing, "We do not allow any interference, whether from Turkey or from others, and we reject all interventions."

Al-Rahim called on the United Nations and human rights organizations to put pressure on the Turkish state to verify leader's health and allow the medical staff, his lawyer and his family to meet him and lift the isolation.  

In the same context, Muhammad Al-Abdullah spoke to the people of Hajin, denouncing the current situation and Turkey's arbitrary actions against him.

Al-Abdullah explained that his arrest was unlawful, and the repeated requests by his lawyer and his family to visit him, were rejected by the Turkish authorities under the AKP's orders. A flagrant violation of international laws.

'Not a coincidence'

Noting that “this matter did not happen by chance,” calling on the international community to “to stop the Turkish aggression's blatant attacks and uncover the leader's his health condition.”

And Al-Abdullah believed that “isolation is to isolate his ideas of freedom and equality between peoples, and for the leader's departure to the public,” he said, “correcting all the authoritarian ideas that currently exist and which are in opposition to the civilization of peoples.”

'Two opposites'

He went on to say, "Turkey is a dictatorial state, and the leader enjoys a liberal democratic idea, so they are opposites," explaining that "the leader rejects these ideas, the occupation, force and violence against the people because they do not belong to his democratic ideology, which calls for freedom and equality, and his slogan is brotherhood."

As the administrator in the Deir Ezzor Health Committee, Maryam Al-Awad, says: "More than 22 years ago, an international conspiracy was hatched against the leader Abdullah Ocalan and worked to imprison him in Imrali prison."

She added, "We are women of Hajjin and its countryside, and we will fight for the freedom of the leader who set the path for free women, removed the veil that covered our eyes, and we were able to obtain our rights, especially Arab women who were involved in work at various levels, political, military, economic and social."

In the same context, the co-chair of the people’s municipality in the town of Hajin, the era of al-Mirkaz, condemned the isolation of the leader and said that the behavior of the Turkish authorities was inappropriate.

She added: Isolation is a flagrant violation of human rights. Therefore, we reject these immoral acts aimed at undermining the project of the democratic nation and the brotherhood of peoples.
