March 12th, 2004 Uprising activity sets off

Activities commemorating the 17th annual anniversary of the People's March 12th, 2004, Uprising has set off in the city of Qamishlo with the participation of a big number of people.

Today morning thousands of Kurds, Arabs and Syriacs from different areas of North Eastern Syria, more notably from Deir Ezzor, converged on the March 12^th, Martyrs Stadium in the city of Qamishlo in eastern Syria to take part in the activities that commemorate the event.

The March 12, Martyrs Stadium, home to activities, is being decorated with photos of the martyrs passed in the uprising, logos and banners of the Sport and Youth Body, and TEV-DEM's, PYNK's, Martyrs Families Council's, YPG's, YPJ's and the SDF's.

Many official associations and bodies are taking part in the activities as well as SDC, Arab, Kurdish and Syriac parties, SDF's associations and the YPG and YPJ.

After a minute of silence was observed in honor of martyrs, member to the Culture Committee in Qamishlo Canton, Keder Sulaiman welcomed the attendance, ''March 12^th, marks uprising by the Kurdish people against oppression and wrongdoing, and the day on which Kurds and Arabs take sides to stand up to sedition'', he said.

It is scheduled that speeches be made by different bodies marking the occasion.
