Al-Hasakah - Diyar Ahmed

For fighting the regions of northeast Syria, the Turkish occupation uses various means, the most important, reducing the Euphrates water, which is a source for generating electrical energy for the region.

For over a month, the regions of the Jazira region have been suffering from a lack of electric rationing, including the Tal Tamr district in Hasakah province, on the contact lines with the Turkish occupation and the mercenaries of the so-called "Syrian National Army."

The western countryside of Tal Tamr district has been witnessing electricity cuts for months and deliberately bombed by the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries.

The co-chair of the Tal Tamer Electricity, Fahd Samaila, told our agency: “The reason for the electric rationing in the region is that the Turkish occupation state cut off water from the Euphrates Dam, as the amount of incoming water is less than half, insufficient to generate electricity and feed it with electricity.”

"The Turkish occupation is fighting us by various means, through cutting off water and electricity, and by its continuous attacks on the region," he added.

He continued: "We recently witnessed the Turkish occupation state targeting the power station in the Tal Tamr district and the electrical network between Tal Tamr and Zarkan district and cutting it off more than 20 times."

Regarding the residents ’criticism of the lack of an organized electricity availability, Samaila said:“ The people in the area are not convinced of the low level of water in the Euphrates River, and they are not convinced that the electrical current is available if water is available in the dam. They have to make sure that the amount of water is now 200 square meters per area. The time is out of 500 square meters. "

Samaila warned of a "humanitarian catastrophe" if the water level continues to fall, especially as the region is heading towards the summer season.

At the end of his speech, Samaila called on the international community and humanitarian organizations to put pressure on the Turkish occupation and to stop its crimes against the regions of northern and eastern Syria. He said, "We demand to pump water and provide the Syrian lands with their allocated share of water."
