The young Ali Faris Al-Ahmad (32 years) was arrested nearly a year ago by the Damascus government for unknown reasons, and was taken to an unknown location, and he remained missing until his family received news he lost his life in one of the detention centers two days ago.

Since the beginning of the crisis in the country, the government of Damascus began a campaign of regional arrests that targeted tens of thousands of Syrian people in the areas out of its control.

Our correspondent from the region indicated that Al-Ahmad's family did not spare any effort or money during the previous period to find out the whereabouts of their son or the reason for his arrest, explaining, "he did not have any political activity."

Of note, the Syrian authorities practice a policy of forced absenteeism and torture of detainees in their prisons, whether opposition or civilians, after fabricating malicious accusations against them, in the absence of a judicial body to adjudicate rulings, leaving matters arbitrary in the hands of the officers and the influential people, without considering the age group or gender.
