SDC: Astana statement aims to sow division, maintain authoritarian regime

Today, the Syrian Democratic Council issued a statement to the public opinion denouncing what was stated in the final statement of the Astana Group, and said in the statement:

“The Syrian Democratic Council reviewed the statement issued by the Astana Group on February 17, 2021, in which the guarantor countries Iran, Turkey and Russia expressed positions that have nothing to do with the reality of north and east Syria and the role of the Autonomous Administration in preserving the lives of Syrians, ensuring security and stability, combating terrorism and the country's unity, and it is not consistent with the legitimate aspirations of the Syrian people.

The Syrian Democratic Council denounces and condemns what was stated in the Astana statement regarding north-east Syria and considers it unfair to the Syrians, and distorts the existing facts, with the aim of sowing discrimination and spreading a culture of hatred and hostility among Syrians, maintaining the ruling authoritarian regime, and passing their own agendas of dependency and occupation of the Syrian lands.

In this regard, the Syrian Democratic Council reaffirms the unity and defense of the Syrian territories, rejects any reproduction of the authoritarian regime, and reaffirms its adherence to the political transition to a decentralized, pluralistic democratic system that guarantees and protects the rights of all Syrian components.
