Turkish occupation deprives 40 villages of Tel Tamr, Zarkan of electricity

On January 6, the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries targeted the village of Dardara, north of Tel Tamr district with shells, while the nearby power station witnessed direct targeting of the supply lines and its surrounding, which got it out of service.

The Turkish occupation and its mercenaries almost always target the electricity networks, which causes great suffering to the civilians in the villages on the frontlines.

The lines branching from the station feed 40 villages of Tel Tamr and Zarkan regions, and have been living in darkness since more than 20 days due to power cuts.

Our agency's correspondent managed to reach the village of Dardara, and met with civilians there, who expressed their concerns and their constant suffering due to power cut.

Mahmoud Al-Abdullah, a civilian from Dardara village, said: "The reason for the power cut is the recent bombardment that targeted the village and the power station in Tel Tamer."

The concerned authorities are trying to maintain the power lines, but due to being permanently targeted by the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries, they have not been unable to repair them so far."

Al-Abdullah added: "Our suffering is exacerbating by the continued violations and power cuts to the village."

While Khedr Al-Fares called on the concerned authorities to work on connecting electricity to their village.

The Electricity Corporation in Tel Tamer district, in coordination with the Russian "guarantor" in the city has been trying for three days to access the electrical networks that were destroyed, but it cannot reach because they are located near areas occupied by the Turkish occupation and mercenaries.

The inability of the workers to reach the target lines is due to the inability of the Russian forces to protect the maintenance personnel.

The co-chair of the Electricity Corporation in Tel Tamr district, Fahd Semaila, said: "As a result of the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries targeting the northern villages of Tal Tamr district, significant damage inflicted to the line 20 connecting from Tel Tamer power station to the villages on Zarkan district road."

He added: "The recent Turkish bombing caused the collapse of 1500 meters of the electrical network, in addition to the breakage of several electric poles, and the villages in which electricity was cut off from are about 40 villages."

Regarding their inability to reach the lines that were out of service, Semaila said: "We are trying to reach the center of damage, but we cannot because of the lack of coordination between the Russian forces and the Turkish occupation, and targeting the cadres directly."

Semaila called on the Russian "guarantor" to work seriously and put pressure on the Turkish occupation forces and their mercenaries to stop their bombing and targeting of electricity networks, in addition to setting up coordination to repair the damage and deliver electricity to civilians.

Semaila appealed to the international community to stop the crimes of the occupation and its mercenaries in the region and their cutting off electricity networks, as they are among the foundations of life.
