The fifth round of negotiations of the so-termed "Constitutional Committee" between representatives of the Damascus government and pro-Turkey groups began at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva, amid the ongoing exclusion of the genuine representatives of the Syrian people.

The so-called negotiating body announced the conclusion of the work of the first day of the fifth session of the Mini-"constitutional committee" in the United Nations building in Geneva, Switzerland.

The mini committee is made up of 45 members, distributed as follows: 15 from the government of Damascus and 15 from pro-Turkey groups, while the remaining 15 are supposed to represent civil society, they also represent the government of Damascus and Ankara.

The so-called negotiating body noted that the current session will continue until the 29th of this month, with two sessions a day, and under the direction of the UN special envoy to Syria, Geir Pedersen.

Identical sources revealed to Al-Arabiya Network that the joint head of the Damascus government delegation, Ahmed Al-Kuzbari, rejected two proposals on the methodology for the tour's work and the mechanism for discussing the agenda, the basic principles of the constitution.

None of the previous rounds of negotiations achieved significant progress so far due to the exclusion of the actual forces on the ground in Syria, as the exclusion of representatives of NE Syria from this committee continues until now due to Turkish pressure and the acquiescence of Russia and the Damascus government to it.
