The Turkish occupation and its mercenaries' attacks continue on the northern and eastern regions of Syria, especially Ain Issa district which has been witnessing battles on the ground since more than a month after numerous infiltration attempts by Turkey's mercenaries, in addition to the area being subjected to daily artillery shelling.

The villages of Manbij near the Turkish occupation areas are also subjected to frequent bombardment operations, as is the case with other villages in al-Shahba, Tel Tamr and Zarkan.

Seeking demographic change!

The Co-chair of the Intellectuals' Union of Manbij city and its countryside, Ahmed al-Youssef, believes that "Turkey's ongoing attacks tell us well that the first goal of Turkey is to seek to bring about demographic change in these regions, and that Turkey wants to divide the Syrian north to weaken these areas."

Al-Youssef denounced the Russian guarantor's position regarding the Turkish occupation's attacks, and said that "there is an attempt to pressure north and east Syria to hand over the region to the Syrian government, but the people in the region are a resisting and struggling people, and they will not surrender so easily."

Regarding the repercussions of the Turkish foreign policy on the Turkish interior, al-Youssef explains that "Turkey suffers from an imbalance at home due to the offensive foreign policy against the peoples of the region."

Fearing that civilians will be subjected to massacres

For her part, Rola Othman, the Member of the Intellectuals' Union in Manbij said: "The real Turkish project in north and east Syria is to gradually occupy these areas, and then to carry out ethnic cleansing and demographic change."

She added: "There is a Russian-Turkish agreement to put pressure on the Autonomous Administration in north and east Syria, and push it to make concessions in favor of the Syrian government, thus removing it gradually from the international forums."

Rola explained that "the situation of women and children in Ain Issa is bad, due to the lack of security as a result of the constant shelling and the fear of massacres to be committed against them."

At the end of her speech, she appealed to European countries and human rights organizations to stand against the ambitions of the Turkish state in the Syrian territories.
