Arab intellectuals: Russia is a false guarantor that must prove its credibility

Al-Raqqa city's intellectuals decried the egregious Turkish incursion in Syria lands in general, and the Ain Issa district particularly, holding Russian guarantor responsible for what was happening in the Ain Issa district, and described it as a partner, not the guarantor, as they say.

Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries continue to violently bomb the Ain Issa district, to occupy it and displace its people, who were enjoying safety and stability, amid the silence of the international community in general and the Russian guarantor in particular.

The co-chair of the Union of Intellectuals in al-Raqqa, Abd al-Rahman al-Ahmad, said, "These hostile and military acts primarily affect civilians."

'Russia is a partner, not a guarantor'

Abdul Rahman al-Ahmad stressed during his speech that "Russia is not a guarantor of the ceasefire in the regions of northern and eastern Syria, but rather is a partner in these attacks, because if it were a guarantor, it would have directly interfered and stopped these blatant attacks."

Al-Ahmad added, "What is happening in Syria now is nothing but a targeting of the human civilization that Syria was its first cradle of. Today, Ain Issa is under violent attacks by Turkey, and these attacks aim to occupy more Syrian lands."

Al-Ahmad called for the cessation of all foreign interference in Syria in general, and the regions of northern and eastern Syria in particular, and added, "External interventions are just to implement the interests of these warring countries in Syria, whether it is Russia, America, Turkey and Iran."

"There is no clause in international law that allows Turkey to occupy the Syrian lands, and these attacks aim to achieve colonial ambitions in the regions of north and east Syria to obliterate the culture of its land and its people," Al-Ahmad said.

At the end of his speech, Al-Ahmad appealed to the people of Syria to stop fighting among themselves, and to stand in the face of this greedy occupation of the Syrian lands, adding, "Are not 10 years of wars sufficient for us? "The country has been destroyed and its sons have been affected, some of them were killed and some of them were wounded. We must control our minds at this stage to save the people of Syria."

For his part, a member of the Union of Intellectuals in al-Raqqa, Abd al-Rahman al-Issa, said: “The violations committed by the Ottoman occupation and its mercenaries under the pretext of repelling terrorism, but they and their mercenaries represent terrorism in and of itself. Where is the Russian guarantor about these attacks?

Al-Issa added, "We see Russia bombing the Syrian lands in the Idlib region, and Turkey turns blind an eye, and the same scenario is happening now in Ain Issa district, Turkey is bombing, and Russia, although it is the guarantor in the region, but it does not play its role well."

Al-Issa indicated that the Turkish occupation is trying to control the Ain Issa district because it knows what is the importance of the geographical location of Ain Issa district in northern and eastern Syria, as it is located on the M4 international road and links all regions of northern and eastern Syria to each other.

Al-Issa added, "Russia's role is a shameful one, because we do not see any serious interference in the ceasefire in Ain Issa district. The Russian guarantor must prove his credibility and play the role of the right guarantor, not the fake guarantor."

Al-Issa explained that "the people of Syria in general must stand up to these attacks that target the Syrian lands, and repel the attacks that target the territorial integrity and the people of Syria."

Al-Issa concluded his speech by saying, "The international community and human rights organizations must intervene quickly to stop these attacks, which, if they continue, will cause great disasters against the people of the region."
