Syrian Foreign condemns of cutting water in al-Hasakah, described it as egregious violation 

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Damascus government condemned the repeated Turkish occupation cutting off water to a million people in al-Hasakah, and considered it a blatant violation of the United Nations Charter and international law, describing it as a described war crime added to the crimes of occupation and aggression.

In a letter to the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the President of the Security Council, the ministry affirmed that “within the framework of a systematic and open policy, the Turkish occupation forces have once again repeated their crime of cutting water from the Alouk station, which is the main source of drinking water for more than a million people in the city of al-Hasakah.”

It indicated that the number of frequent of cutting drinking water at Alouk Station since Turkey's occupation of Serêkaniyê / Ras al-Ain reached 17 cases.

The ministry stressed in its message that “the Turkish government is carrying out these illegal and inhuman practices to achieve political and military gains, including implementing a policy of systematic displacement against Syrian citizens in the areas it occupies in order to bring about demographic change commensurate with its expansionist and colonial goals, without taking into account the minimum needs. The urgent humanity of the people of that region violates all international covenants and agreements that guarantee the right of every human being to have access to safe drinking water, and the right not to be subjected to an arbitrary suspension of water supplies and their pollution. The countries of the world consider providing water a basic human right that all countries must respect and not to prejudice it. "

The Ministry condemned these "repeated criminal practices of the Turkish occupation forces against the Syrian people, their sovereignty and territorial integrity, by various means and methods."

It considered the repeated cutting of water to the people of al-Hasakah a flagrant violation of the principles and purposes of the United Nations Charter, the provisions of international law and all relevant Security Council resolutions, and the Ministry described cutting off water to more than a million citizens a described war crime added to the crimes of occupation and aggression.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Damascus government called on the Security Council and the United Nations General Secretariat to immediately intervene to oblige the Turkish regime to respect the simplest rules of international law in this regard, to restart the operation of the Alouk water station and to confront these inhumane practices aimed at restricting the civilian population and depriving them of their livelihood and life.

It also called on the Security Council to assume its responsibilities in maintaining international peace and security, and to put an end to the violations of the Turkish regime and its demand to end its aggression and occupation of parts of the Syrian territories in a manner that violates the principles and purposes of the United Nations Charter and the provisions of international law, threatening international peace and security, as well as obligating it to implement Security Council resolutions. Related to the fight against terrorism and with full respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity and the people of Syria.

It is worth noting that the city of al-Hasakah has been suffering, since the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries, attacked Serêkaniyê on October 9 last year, from a crisis in securing drinking water, and frequent water cuts due to Turkish mercenaries' control of the Alouk station, which provides drinking water for the cities of al-Hasakah and Tal Tamer and a number of the camps, which include thousands of displaced people and refugees, the most prominent of them are al-Hol camp, Areesha, al-Twainah, and Washokani.
