Assad's speech shakes Syrian social fabric

A statement was released to the public opinion by the Syriac Union Party, in condemnation of statements made by the Syrian president Bashar Assad against the Syriac and Assyrian people in Syria, calling on both Assyrians and Syriacs to stand as one voice to defend their rights and identity and their endangered presence on the ground. 

The statement reads as follows:

The Syrian regime and president proceed to attack and not recognize original identities of Syria, of which Syriacs, the same policy that was adopted 50 years ago, the speech delivered by Assad to the Syrian Endowment Ministry representatives adduce that such a policy would never be changed, by giving the impression that Syria has one identity and one religion it is a mere proof of the chauvinistic and exclusionist tendency of the regime, that led the country to such a catastrophic phase, that impedes solution and lengthening the crisis, and the speech though to appease and assuage section of Syrian society, it is a means to proceed ruling, that is considered an effort to refrain from endeavours of a real solution to the Syrian Crisis, and a policy to tear up the Syrian society and to create division and sow sedition''. 

It was made clear in the statement by the Syriac Union Party, that Syria has been the cradle of civilization, that many of which contributed to the welfare of humanity, and confirmed the role played by Arabs, and that of Kurds, and other components, and that they reject such policies adopted by the Syrian Government that deny the other, calling on the concerned part to exert efforts to build a democratic and plural Syria.
