Historically, the Yazidis have been subject to dozens of massacres, the latest of which was the 73rd massacre that took place at the hands of ISIS and with Turkish support on August 3, 2014, after the fighters of the Kurdistan Democratic Party fled from  Şengal and left its people prey to the brutality of ISIS mercenaries.

The Iraqi government announced signing of an agreement with the Hewlêr government on the administration of Şengal district in southern Kurdistan on the 9th of last October.

The Yazidis who liberated their region from ISIS and formed their autonomous administration fear that the agreement may pave the way for another massacre.

Maryam Jendo, from Afrin, who were displaced to al-Shahba canton, denounced the  agreement.

Media Jawish, one of the Afrin displaced , recalled the massacre committed by ISIS in  Şengal in 2014, "They want to repeat those plans that they did previously, so we categorically reject that and we will not allow these agreements."

She emphasized their insistence to protect their religion from all attacks, "We will continue to protect our religion from the attempts of the Turkish occupation and its continued attacks on the Kurdish people, especially the Yazidis."

The expatriate from Afrin, Sabri Jawish, considered the agreement "an attempt by the Justice and Development Party to eliminate the Kurds, and the Baghdad and Hewlêr Agreement opens the door to the Turkish state."

"During the ISIS attack on  Şengal, the Kurdistan government abandoned them, and many women became slaves and were sold in the markets, except for the children who were killed, and now they want to administer  Şengal," he added.
