Recently, workers in the Democratic Civil Administration have been targeted to operations in the countryside of Deir Ezzor by Daesh mercenaries.

Several assassination attempts targeted the notables and sheikhs of the tribes, in addition to workers in the Democratic Civil Administration and the leader of the Deir Ezzor Military Council, Ahmed Al-Khabil "Abu Khawla" and the spokeswoman for the Deir Ezzor Military Council, Leilwa Al-Abdullah during the past period.

Many parties stand behind these targeting operations, as the spokeswoman for the Deir Ezzor Military Council, al-Abdullah, said earlier that the cells target Civil Administration workers and the military forces belong to ISIS, the Syrian government, Iran and Turkey.

In this context, our agency held a meeting with the co-chair of the Deir Ezzor Civil Council, Ghassan Al-Youssef, who said that the Democratic Civil Administration has been systematically targeted with pre-made plots in recent months.

Al-Youssef pointed out that these attacks targeted administrative members of the council’s management, who have an active role in the council’s management and in society, adding: “We have a large list for those who were directly targeted, and they are important members of the public administration, in addition to the sheikhs and elders of the tribes and tribes that support the council.”

Local and international bodies are behind the attacks in Deir Ezzor

Al-Youssef pointed to the escalation of targeting operations, saying: "During the last ten days, members of the council's administration have been subjected to four targeting and assassination operations, which raises concern among the council's supporters and employees, and in our turn, we are trying with the security authorities and the International Coalition to limit these operations and find out the perpetrators."

Al-Youssef emphasized that other parties besides ISIS seek to undermine security, stability, business and achievements made by the people of Deir Ezzor, adding: “There are several local and international parties behind these operations, not just ISIS, because Deir Ezzor is an important region of Syria, and it has a strategic position, that is why the various parties seek to fulfill their ambitions.”

Al-Youssef attributed the increase in the movement of these cells to the international disputes in the region, and confirmed that these attacks come in light of "somewhat" international recognition of the Autonomous Administration of northern and eastern Syria, and after the achievements that have been made in the region despite the few available capabilities, which angered some, their cells moved and start targeting the administration and its administrators. "

ISIS is not over

Al-Youssef pointed out that ISIS did not end in Deir Ezzor, and said: "The terrorist organization ISIS has not ended. It has active cells in the region, and it carries out continuous attacks, targeting many tribal, military and administrative parties."

The co-chair of the Deir Ezzor Civil Council, Ghassan Al-Youssef, appealed to the International Coalition to support the Syrian Democratic Forces, which represent the region's forces, to pursue the parties trying to undermine the security of the region, and called on the coalition to take measures to limit these attacks.
