Work has become operational in the Child Protection Bureau in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria with the beginning of October, and on October 20th, nine branch offices were created, distributed among the civil administrations in northern and eastern Syria.

By the fifteenth of this month, the branch offices received a number of complaints, as Al-Hasakah office received 23 complaints and the Qamishlo office 12 complaints, while the offices of Al-Tabqa and Al-Raqqa cities received two complaints, and Afrin and Al-Shahba three complaints, Kobane ten complaints, and Deir ez-Zor one complaint which was addressed. Currently, four complaints were received, and the minors were returned to their families in the cities of Qamishlo and Al-Hasakah.

The Co-chair of the CPB, Murhaf Al-Abdullah, confirmed in a statement to Hawar news agency that "the office, in coordination with the Syrian Democratic Forces, continues to work on verifying the remaining complaints submitted to address them."

Regarding the mechanism for receiving complaints, Murhaf Al-Abdullah said, "Offices are open in all regions of northern and eastern Syria to receive them, as any complainant can bring documents related to minors, to facilitate the search and verification process in order to return children to their families."

Al-Abdullah also indicated that "after handing over the children to their family, the office communicates with them to check on their condition to integrate into society."

In May of last year, the United Nations on the one hand, and the SDF, the Autonomous Administration on the one hand signed an agreement to prevent the recruitment of children into the ranks of the Syrian Democratic Forces. The Turkish invasion of northern and eastern Syria and the Corona pandemic in the period after its signature contributed to its failure to implement it, according to previous statements by officials in AANES.
