​​​​​​​Russian-Turkish talks on Syria

The Russian President Special Representative for Syria, Alexander Lavrentiev, and the Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister, Sadat Onal, discussed today, Friday, the situation in Idlib and the Astana track regarding the Syrian settlement.

"Novosti" agency citated the Turkish FM's spokesman as saying that the two parties discussed the latest developments in the political process within the context of the Syrian Constitutional Committee, the Astana process, the situation in Idlib, in addition to the issue of Syrian refugees and displaced persons.

The TFM's spokesman said that the two sides exchanged views, and that Ankara had transferred its vision on these issues to the Russian side.

Russia failed during the past two days with the success of the refugee conference it held in Damascus, as participation was limited to several countries, while its efforts were still failing to hold a new round of so-called constitutional committee meetings.

Turkey continues to withdraw its points that were besieged by the Syrian government forces in the countryside of Idlib, Aleppo and Hama, amid talk of a new swap between Idlib and Karabakh.
