The commander of the French land forces, Thierry Berkard, confirmed in an interview with the French newspaper "Le Figaro", the world is witnessing new balances, adding that there is no danger threatening the French borders, "but some players seek to provoke and raise the danger."

Berkard stressed that the French army should not surrender to any pressure, by building a solid and exemplary army that "discourages the potential aggressor from provoking us."

Berkard's statements come after the recent escalation in rhetoric between Paris and Ankara, following Turkey's implementation of exploration operations for energy resources in the Mediterranean waters.

Macron strongly criticized the Turkish moves last month, especially against the backdrop of the "harassment" of a French ship, saying: "France no longer considers Turkey a partner in the development of the Mediterranean," while Ankara responded with several offensive statements.
