A British delegation headed by the British Special Envoy to Syria Martin Longden visited the regions of northern and eastern Syria, to discuss the political situation and the joint alliance against ISIS.

Yesterday, Tuesday, a British delegation headed by the British special envoy to Syria Martin Longden arrived in the regions of north and east Syria.

The delegation was received at Semalka Crossing by the co-presidency of the External Relations Department in northern and eastern Syria, Dr. Abdul Karim Omar and Dania Ramadan, the head of the Women's Body, Zainab Sarukhan, and the Director of Relations at Semalka Crossing Baz Ahmed.

The two sides held a closed meeting for an hour to discuss many political issues, focusing on fighting ISIS and ways to address the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in northern and eastern Syria.

After the meeting ended, the co-chair of the External Relations Department in North and East Syria, Abdul Karim Omar, said in a special statement to Hawar news agency ANHA: “We are very happy in the Autonomous Administration in Northern and Eastern Syria with this meeting and this important visit for us and the United Kingdom, especially as we are partners in the coalition on the ground to eliminate of ISIS."

Omar continued: “The United Kingdom has a very big role in resolving the crisis in Syria and making national and democratic change in accordance with international decisions.” He expressed his happiness regarding the exchange of views on the overall general situation in Syria after all these years of crisis and the need to resolve the crisis according to UN decisions."

Omar added that the two parties stressed the need to solve the crisis in Syria after all these years of this crisis, in a democratic and peaceful manner in accordance with international resolutions, especially Resolution 2,254, with the participation of all components of the Syrian people.

Omar noted that the two sides also discussed "the humanitarian situation in the region and the challenges it faces, especially with the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic and its impact on the regions of northern and eastern Syria, and the importance of exchanging experiences on means of prevention."

During the visit, the Department of Foreign Relations in the regions of northern and eastern Syria handed over a 4-year-old girl of British origin to the British delegation.
