16 members of Syrian security forces killed, wounded in Lattakia's clashes

16 members of the "General Security Administration" of the Damascus Authority were killed and injured in Lattakia countryside following attacks by armed groups. The latter carried out ambushes and assaults, leading to intense clashes between the two sides. The escalation followed the arrival of military reinforcements from Idlib to launch a large-scale security operation in Latakia and its countryside, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

 Today, the villages of Harf al-Sari, Baabda, Dweir Baabda, al-Dalia, Wadi al-Qalaa, and Beit Aana were subjected to artillery and rocket shelling originating from the naval academy, where Damascus Authority forces are stationed.

 Helicopters also targeted positions in the village of Beit Aana, while intensive aerial surveillance by helicopters and reconnaissance planes was reported in the area.

 The bombing in Jableh countryside escalated, with helicopter strikes targeting Beit Aana from the direction of Ma'arin village.

Simultaneously, heavy artillery shelling hit the village of Dweir Baabda, causing panic among civilians, according to the Observatory.

 In response, protests broke out in Tartous and the al-Da'tour area in Latakia, while heavy gunfire was heard in the streets of Jableh following calls for demonstrations condemning the airstrikes on Jableh countryside.
