Ankara is angry with al-Sarraj government over ceasefire

Libyan sources reported Ankara's anger at al-Sarraj's government over the statement it issued regarding the ceasefire, in conjunction with the continuing demonstrations against the Accord government in Tripoli.

The Libyan "218" channel quoted its sources as saying that separate contacts took place between Turkish officials and the government of National Accord, and according to the channel, Ankara is angry, after the issuance of a statement regarding the ceasefire in conjunction with the statement of the Speaker of Parliament, Aguila Saleh, in order to resolve matters, and the same sources confirmed that al-Sarraj's statement came after German pressure.

According to the same sources, Ankara will assess the situation on the ground in light of al-Sarraj's announcement, during the national security session in the mid of this week.

Demonstrations, burning tires and road closures continued in the capital, Tripoli, on Sunday night, while groups affiliated with al-Sarraj government carried out a widespread campaign of arrests in the neighborhoods of the capital against the demonstrators demanding the departure of al-Sarraj and the Accord government.

Eyewitnesses reported that mercenaries supported by Turkey opened fire on the demonstrators in the capital, Tripoli.

In a statement it published regarding the targeting of the city's demonstrators, the so-called Tripoli Protection Force held the government of National Accord responsible, in which the government of National Accord gave 24 hours to clarify who was behind targeting the demonstrators.

The protests expanded in Tripoli, Libya, on Sunday night to include night demonstrations in the western neighborhoods of Tripoli, such as Ghout al-Shaal, al-Siyahiya, al-Islami neighborhood, al-Dribi, Kashlaf, Qadah, al-Riyadiah, and al-Andalus neighborhood, in addition to the eastern part of the capital in Souq al-Jumaah and Tajouraa, while the groups affiliated to al-Sarraj government in Tripoli implemented a massive campaign of arrests against the demonstrators.
