In conjunction with the sixth anniversary of the massacre committed by ISIS mercenaries against the members of the Shaitat clan in the countryside in August 2014, which killed 1,300 people and 400 missing, the clansmen and the people of Deir ez-Zor countryside organized a ceremony to commemorate the martyrs of the massacre.

Hundreds of people and members of the Shaitat participated in the ceremony, in addition to the families and notables of the eastern Deir Ez-Zor countryside. The ceremony was also attended by representatives of the Syrian Democratic Forces and civil institutions.

The ceremony started with a minute of silence for the souls of the martyrs, followed by a military parade by the fighters of the Syrian Democratic Forces.

The ceremony included a number of speeches, including Abd al-Rahman Abu Fadi, one of the elders of the Shaitat clan, in which he said: “On the sixth anniversary of the Shaitat massacre, we remember those heroes who sacrificed themselves for the sake of their village, their children and their people, and proved their acceptance of injustice and that a scourge swallows up the world if it is not eliminated. ".

“It is everyone’s duty to care for children who lost their parents in the massacre, and not to leave them in poverty and suffering. Caring for them is a societal, moral and religious duty.” He said.

Muzam al-Adham, a leader in the Syrian Democratic Forces, delivered a speech in which he said: “On this tragic memory, we renew the pledge to take revenge on everyone who participated in the crime and who tries to tamper with the security of the region, and we will be a protective shield for our people and our clans.”

In turn, the Co-chair of the Council of Martyrs' Families in Deir ez-Zor, Bashir Al-Khaled, delivered a speech in which he said: “Today we remember that tragedy and the standing of the members of the Shaitat tribe in the face of ISIS mercenaries, but as a result of the support that these organizations received from Turkey with money and weapons and the opening of borders to them, this led to this massacre, but the will of the tribe’s members did not stop after this massacre. Rather, they went out and pledged themselves for revenge, and they struck with an iron fist through their volunteering with the SDF, and they were able to liberate the region.

The leader of the Syrian Democratic Forces, Anakin Muhammad Ahed, in a speech he delivered during the ceremony fighting "injustice wherever it is found. ISIS has ended in military terms, and the cells in which they work in these areas, whether they are ISIS cells or cells operating under the name of ISIS if they are from the regime or from Euphrates Shield We will fight them wherever they are.
