The MFC in Afrin and Al-Shahba issued a statement in conjunction with the 36th anniversary of the beginning of the armed struggle of the Kurdistan Freedom Movement.

The statement touched on the massacres committed by Turkish fascism against the Kurdish people throughout history, "where thousands of Kurds were killed and displaced, and they made Kurdistan a cemetery."

The statement added: "And after all this tyranny and injustice, a revolution was born under the leadership of Comrade Agid on the fifteenth of August. This day is the birth of freedom, the great revolution against the fascist state, the historical response to murder, slavery and the obliteration of identity."

The Martyrs' Families Council ended its statement saying: "We call on our people in all parts of Kurdistan and the world that we are approaching freedom day after day, so let us fight together, and make ourselves a circle around freedom and our leader, and strengthen our resolve and defeat the occupation and ensure the building of a free and democratic Kurdistan."
