Last week, the European Committee against Torture issued a detailed report on the results of its last visit to leader Abdullah Ocalan in Imrali prison, and included a number of information confirming the Turkish occupation authorities' violation of international laws.

In this regard, political and cultural circles saw the necessity for the committee to perform its duties in pressuring the Turkish state to lift the isolation of leader Ocalan.

In an interview with Hawar news agency ANHA, political activist Walid Bakr said: “The leader Abdullah Ocalan awakened the Kurdish people from the torpor in which he was.” He added, “In the history of societies a person is born and becomes a leader to direct his society towards freedom, and the leader Abdullah Ocalan appeared from among the people and today he became a leader calling for democracy and freedom, while the Kurdish people were mired in the special war policies of the hostile countries, the leader Ocalan appeared, awakened the people from their slumber and charted the path of freedom for them.

Bakr added, "The leader, after his arrest, did not surrender to the countries that carried out the conspiracy against him, and on this basis the strength and toughness of the leader appeared to us and his adherence to his thought in order to illuminate the path of freedom for his people."

On the experience of the democratic nation applied in northern and eastern Syria, Bakr said, “The approach of the democratic nation in northern and eastern Syria is to adopt the ideology of the leader Abdullah Ocalan. The cohesion of peoples and their coexistence with each other has led to stability and security in the region, while there are many attempts by regional countries. And globalism in thwarting this revolution and this regime, and returning peoples to a state of chaos and disorganization, but if this regime succeeds and is included in Syria in general, this crisis will inevitably end, and it will lead Syria towards a decentralized democratic Syria.

For his part, a member of the Intellectuals Union in Afrin, Jumah Walo said: “The conspiracy that targeted the leader Abdullah Ocalan was against the people who eager for freedom as well.” He added, “The plot that was planned against the leader was a conspiracy against all peoples yearning for freedom and salvation from tyranny, so by targeting the leader oppressed peoples have been targeted, and for this reason it is the responsibility of democratic movements and all advocates of democracy to fulfill their responsibility towards the freedom of the leader.

Even if he called on the peoples of the Middle East to follow the example of the democratic nation project, "If the project of the democratic nation existing in northern and eastern Syria is followed by the Syrian people and the Middle East in general, then we will get rid of the pending crises in all those countries."

Walo held the Committee Against Torture responsible for what is happening in Imrali, "We hold the Committee against Torture all responsibilities for what the leader and all political detainees are subjected to in Imrali prison," and demanded that it fulfill its responsibility and work for the release of leader Ocalan.
