Co-Chair of the Democratic Society Conference (KCD), Leyla Guven, called on the Kurdistan Regional Government, which imposed a ban on the refugee camp in Makhmur, to lift this blockade in order to curb the spread of the coronavirus, which caused the death of many.

The siege has been imposed on the refugee camp in Makhmur since July 2019, by order of the Kurdistan Regional Administration. And the life of Makhmur people is in great danger because of the Corona virus.

Layla Guven, through a video clip posted on her account on social media, invited the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, and his Prime Minister, Masroor Barzani, and said:

"First of all, I salute the people of Southern Kurdistan and their government with respect. I wanted to communicate my voice to the Administration of Southern Kurdistan through this video. Currently the coronavirus is spread all over the world. We as the people of Kurdistan are preparing for the virus and taking all measures into consideration. But A very special place is the Makhmur refugee camp, you know, because of the conditions that took place in Kurdistan, many of our people had to go to southern Kurdistan and settled in Makhmur camp. They faced a lot of difficult conditions and they still live.

The Kurdistan Regional Administration imposed a siege on the camp for some time. We, as politicians in northern Kurdistan, call on you to end this deadly siege and confirm that our people in Makhmur are an ideal and heroic people and they are now living in harsh conditions and facing great risks due to the outbreak of the coronavirus.

Please end the siege imposed on them. Because at this point we must stand together and not abandon each other. As a Kurdish politician, I urge the Kurdistan Region Administration to remove the ban. Because this virus is a very dangerous virus and we have to protect our people from it. "

The People's Assembly in the camp of the martyr Rustem Judy (Makhmour) has sent a message to the Autonomous Administration of northern and eastern Syria, requesting support to confront the Corona virus in light of the siege imposed on the camp.
