Afrin refugees' insistence on resistance despite siege, bombardment

Afrin canton's people who were forcibly displaced to al-Shahba canton, and Sherawa district's villages are facing harsh living conditions due to the siege imposed by Syrian regime, and continuation of the Turkish occupation's violations and the constant bombardment on al-Shahba canton and Sherawa district.

Syrian regime imposed severe siege on al-Shahba, preventing entry the goods, particularly the medicine

As well as to the severe siege imposed by Syria regime, Turkish occupation state and its gangs continue in its violations against Afrin refugees in al-Shahba canton's villages and Sherawa district's villages.

In this context, Hawar news agency (ANHA) held meeting with the administrators in the Afrin Canton Council, and monitored the views of a number of Afrin residents living in al-Shahba canton.

The administrator of the Afrin Canton Council, Muhammad Abdo, says: “After the forced displacement that affected the people of Afrin by the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries, the Syrian regime imposed severe siege on the people of Afrin living in the Shahba district, by preventing the entry of goods, especially medicines, only after the imposition of large sums of money on it."

Abdo continued his speech, saying: "Besides the siege, the violations of the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries have increased by almost daily bombing of populated villages, which impeded the continuation of daily life, and spread fear and terror in the hearts and deportations of civilians."

Abdo condemned the weak role of international and human rights organizations and their inaction towards the displaced people of Afrin in al-Shahba district and, Sherawa district's villages, indicating that only the Autonomous-Administration provides assistance to the displaced people of Afrin.

Hussein Rashid, a displaced person from Afrin, in his turn denounced the practices of the Syrian regime, the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries, indicating that they were attempts to force them to flee and migrate again, where he said: “We are a peaceful people, and we reject war and bloodshed, so let the Syrian regime and the Turkish occupation state know that we will not go out from al-Shahba, and our resistance continues, until liberating Afrin and returning to it. "

For her part, citizen Silvana Hashem denounced the Syrian regime's policies, represented in the siege and violations of the Turkish occupation state against the people of Afrin in al-Shahba canton and Sherawa district's villages, where she said: “The Syrian regime consider the people of Afrin as not Syrians, and prevent them from the right to live.”

At the end of her speech, Silvana affirmed their insistence on the resistance, and called on the effective powers and states in the Syrian arena to play their role towards the displaced people of Afrin, as in her saying: “We are the people of Afrin, we have the right to live in our homes, and we demand all countries to reconsider the conditions of the displaced, and bring out Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries from the occupied Afrin canton.
