Girkê Legê residents condemn isolation; they demand Ocalan's freedom

The lawyer of leader Ocalan was able to meet with him for the first time, after eight years in May 2, 2019, where subsequent meetings were held in May 2 and 22, July 12 and 18, and August 7 of 2019.

In October 21, 2019, the Turkish authorities imposed yet another disciplinary punishment against the leader Abdullah Ocalan and three other detainees in Imrali.

Ocalan's lawyers have stated that these sanctions are of a confidential nature and that they are not aware of their content.

Hundreds of residents of Girkê Legê district went out in Qamishlo canton with a massive demonstration, calling for the freedom of the leader Abdullah Ocalan, and the isolation of him from the authorities of the Turkish state.

The protesters gathered in the martyr's square, and carried banners reading "The isolation imposed on leader Apo is isolation against humanity, the conspiratorial force dies and my imperial resistance lives," and set out from there towards the middle of the side.

The demonstrators chanted slogans that salute Ocalan and call for his freedom, while denouncing the Turkish state’s measures and imposing isolation on him.

Upon reaching the center of the district, everyone stood for a minute of silence, after which a speech was given by the administrator in Kongra Star Shaha Khalil, in which she talked about the philosophy that Ocalan had adopted, and through which he called for brotherhood of peoples and coexistence among them.

Shaha Khalil said in her speech: The peoples of northern and eastern Syria and through the project of the democratic nation Ocalan put forward, were able to gain their rights, and thanks to him they continued resistance and struggle, as she demanded, in the midst of her speech, freedom for him and allowing his family and his lawyer to meet with him.

The demonstration concluded with slogans calling for Ocalan's freedom.
