Kobani: Constitution that does not value blood of our martyrs does not represent us

Thousands of people from northern and eastern Syria arrived Wednesday afternoon in the village of Kharab Ashk, south of Kobani city, where there is a base for the US-led International Coalition to Combat ISIS to protest against the non-participation of representatives of their regions in the constitutional committee.

Thousands of people marched from the roundabout of the village of Kharab Ashk to the coalition base, where they began the vigil carrying pictures of martyrs from the region who were martyred in the battles to liberate the region from ISIS and eliminate it.

The protesters also carried banners that read: "A constitution that does not value the blood of our martyrs does not represent us."

During the vigil, the co-chair of the executive council of the Autonomous Administration in northern and eastern Syria, Berivan, Khalid delivered a speech in which she said that the formation of the constitutional committee without the representation of all Syrian parties contradicts UN resolutions stipulating that all components of the Syrian people should participate in drafting the Syrian constitution.

Then the co-chair of the Syrian Democratic Council, Amina Omar, thanked the people for standing there in the square and said that this sit-in is the biggest proof that the Syrian people are not satisfied with this committee.

"These crowds say clearly; no to the occupation, no to tyranny, no to exclusion," said Ibrahim Kaftan, the head of the Future Syria Party, in a speech during the vigil.

In the name of the tribes of the region, Sheikh Hamed Abdul Rahman al-Faraj delivered a speech in which he said that the peoples of northern and eastern Syria "will stand in the face of all conspiracies woven by external parties."
