“Civil society” in Afrin condemns Turkish threats

Women members of civil society organizations in Afrin Region condemned the Turkish threats and affirmed their joining the "Protect Your Country and Your Dignity, Defeat  the Occupation and ISIS" campaign launched by Kongra Star.

Today, Dozens of women members of civil society organizations, unions and trade unions of Afrin Region gathered in the center of Serdem Camp in Ahadath District of Al-Shahba Canton to denounce Turkish threats against northern and eastern Syria.

During the gathering, a statement was issued by the women in this regard and was read by the member of the Yazidi Union of Afrin Canton, Gole Jaafar :

"We, as civil society organizations, unions in northern and eastern Syria condemn the aggression of the Turkish state and its threats to invade and occupy our regions and our land and declare our support and solidarity and join the campaign launched by Kongra Star because the Turkish state seeks by all means to revive the Ottoman Empire who enslaved the people of the region for four hundred years.

The statement added that the Turkish threats to our safe and stable areas are a threat to international peace and security that the United Nations has basically preserved,

It is one of the main purposes adopted in the founding Charter of San Francisco, and legitimize the international law and the drafting of its rules came to achieve this purpose.

We as women in northern and eastern Syria affirm that we will fight in the face of these Turkish threats and protect the homeland and our dignity against any invasion or occupation. "

The statement called on the international community in all its bodies and women's organizations, international and human rights, and all civil society organizations, the international coalition and world public opinion to do their duty to stop the Turkish threats and prevent it from carrying out its aggression on the region and  consider this aggression a violation of international peace and security and a violation of the sovereignty of the Syrian state."
