On 18 March last year the people of Afrin were forced to move to the areas of al-Shahba, which infrastructure was almost destroyed by the battles that took place years ago amongst the armed factions.

There, a number of people in semi-destroyed houses and others in the camps set up by the Democratic Autonomous Administration to continue the Resistance of the Age in their second phase after the first phase lasted for 58 days under the air raids of the Turkish occupation army.

In 18 March 2018, the people of Afrin moved to the areas of Shahba, which infrastructure was almost destroyed by the battles that took place years ago amongst the armed factions.

There, a number of people in the semi-destroyed houses and others in the camps set up by the Democratic Autonomous Administration have been able to continue the Resistance of the Age in their second phase after the first phase lasted 58 days under the air raids of the Turkish occupation army.

Since the transition, the people have reorganized their lives in accordance with the communal life in al-Shahba canton as they were in Afrin, and all strata and components promised to resist, each with their profession and ability to show the world the extent of their steadfastness and resistance.

A year passes by the occupation of Afrin, but the people are still insisting on the decision to return and bear all the conditions of life in Shahba under the heat of summer and cold winter slogan "Resistance Is Life."

This resistance was an answer to those indiscriminate attacks aimed at breaking the will of the people by targeting the vital, archaeological and historical places, and other sites which they consider holy.

Residents of Berxwedan camp in Fafin district of al-Shahba province reported their resistance to Hawar News Agency. "We do not want relief or assistance from international organizations; we only demand our occupied land from the Turkish army and its mercenaries."

The mother of Salwa Sheikho from the village of Quta in the area of Bulbul in Afrin and currently residing in Berwedan camp said: "Turkish military aircraft managed to get us away from our land, the land of olive, but did not and will not be able to break our will as it was intended."

The whole world witnessed the size of the war machine used by the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries against the people, how they targeted the historical and archaeological sites in the province, and targeted schools where children of all components were taught in their mother language, culture and history.

"We went to the second stage of the Resistance of the Age and organized ourselves in camps and semi-destroyed villages according to the communal life, and our children returned to their schools receive education in their mother tongue, and despite the difficult circumstances and bad weather, but we are resisting."

She stressed at the end of speech, "We want the whole world to know that no one can break us morally, no matter how the war techniques have developed, we are a people with a spirit of unbreakable solid resistance, derived from the blood of martyrs and live on the thought and philosophy of our leader, and our decision is "Resistance Is Life". We insist on this decision until the return to our land, raising banners of victory and avenging of those who occupied our land and looted its goods. "
