Evacuation of more than 2000civilians, surrender of a number of mercenaries in al-Bagouz

Special Forces of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have evacuated a new batch of civilians on Tuesday, including a number of mercenaries who surrendered with their families, most of them Iraqi nationals.

Special Forces of SDF continue to carry out their specific operations against mercenaries in al-Bagouz for days, after the launch of its last battle on current February 9.

After taking civilians as human shields, IS was besieged in a narrow area of 600 to 700 m2, according to al-Jazeera Tempest campaign leader, Jia Ferat, SDF have deployed its own forces to the front lines to open the corridors and remove the remaining civilians and their access to the safe areas.

These forces have carried out dozens of special missions, managed to liberate thousands of civilians, in addition to the families of mercenaries, and arrested mercenaries who tried to hide among civilians after they changed their clothes.

On Tuesday, after several special operations carried out by SDF, they managed to liberate and evacuate some 2,000 other civilians from the besieged area, as well as a large number of mercenary families, and the surrender of a number of mercenaries as well.

The evacuees were evacuated from al-Bagouz village, through about 25 large trucks, while the Special Forces brought about another 20 trucks into al-Bagouz in their quest to free the remaining stranded civilians.

During the questioning of mercenaries by ANHA correspondents, some of the mercenaries, expressed their remorse to join IS, the majority of whom were elderly Iraqis.
