Attacks of Turkish occupation, its mercenaries hit economy , vital places in Afrin

In the past few years, Afrin canton witnessed extensive successes in production, self-sufficiency of many materials and export of surplus to the whole of Syria. After the attacks of the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries, the economic structure of the canton collapsed  where the loss of the people of Afrin since the beginning of the attacks estimated to be 80 to 100 million euros.

The residents of Afrin depended on the main suppliers of agriculture and animal husbandry, where agriculture took first place while animal husbandry in second place, in addition to the canton obtained the economic uniqueness of the existence of several factors, the most important distance from the entry into the quagmire of battles that took place across the Syrian territory.

During the Syrian crisis, which spread to the city of Aleppo and its countryside, thousands of Syrians went from all parts of Syria, especially from the city of Aleppo towards Afrin in search of security and stability , including traders who transferred with them their practical experience, which supported the production and industrial work.

With the movement of traders Afrin flourished in terms of agricultural, industrial and commercial, and began with the movement of import and export of products of soap, olives and clothing to the neighboring countries of Syria, such as Jordan, Iraq and the Gulf States.

In recent years, Afrin canton has achieved great success and implemented many economic and vital projects with surplus production of the canton's income including:

The establishment of 18 laboratories for coal extracted from olive sowing each one of them estimated to one billion and 200 million SP, 24 plant for the manufacture of soap laurel and produced between 12 and 15 tons of soap, and the producing of clothes, the number of sewing workshops 800 workshops between small and large, including three laboratories were working in all stages of the manufacture of clothing from thread and sewing and even export, and the cost of each plant, estimated one billion and 500 million SP.

In addition, there were 250 olive mils in the city of Afrin, each of which cost about 60 million SP. Exchange and currency exchange companies between 137 companies and shops. The preparation of each mill amounted to one billion and 800 million SP, in addition to the existence of three laboratories for various canned food in the canton.

In terms of agriculture, Afrin canton had 18 million olive trees producing 270,000 tons of oil, one million fruit trees and wheat production of about 40,000 tons per year.

The attacks by the Turkish occupier hit Afrin economy

On 20 January, the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries launched attacks using the latest types of land, air and internationally prohibited weapons. Hundreds of people from the canton were forcibly displaced and their families forced to flee to al-Shahba.

In addition, the economic structure of Afrin canton was one of the most important aspects that were affected, in terms of stopping factories and factories from their work and being shelled and stolen from them after the occupation.

On the other hand, a member of the Economic Committee Afrin Haitham Mulla, described the extent of damage suffered by the economic structure of Afrin following the attacks of the Turkish occupier and its mercenary, to ANHA agency.

Mulla pointed out in his speech that Afrin has achieved great economic successes by establishing many vital projects, especially in recent years, because Afrin is one of the rare areas where fighting has not entered and has remained stable .

He added, "In Afrin, unemployment has recently fallen to 10 percent as a result of economic progress and the construction of vital projects."

Haitham Mulla estimated that the loss of the people of the city of Afrin in all its work is between 80 and 100 million euros.

Haitham Mulla said at the end of his speech, "The Turkish occupation army deliberately targeted the vital places first to destroy the economy of the canton, which was of importance at the level of Syria all and secondly to break the resistance of the people by targeting these places, But it was unable to break the resistance of the people .
