The Turkish President Recep Teyyip Erdogan has threatened to occupy the north and east of Syria since December 13, bringing thousands of his soldiers and mercenaries to the border.

To highlight the matter, ANHA agency met with the co-chair of Afrin Canton Council's administration Shiraz Hamo.

Shiraz said at the beginning of her speech that the region in the north and east of Syria has witnessed a lot of developments and important events, including statements about the withdrawal of the US troops from the region. The US officials say that they will protect their allies in Syria even after the withdrawal.

Shiraz noted that the events were a blow to the Turkish state, as it is always seeking to end these democratic forces on the ground, and to impose its occupation forces.

On Erdogan's repeated threats to occupy the eastern and northern regions of Syria, Shiraz said that the Turkish state imposed its occupation on Idlib, Azaz, al-Bab and Afrin, and she added, "The worst crimes and massacres are practiced in these areas, not to mention the demographic change of the region."

Shiraz noted, "The incidents that occur in Afrin reflect the policy and purpose of the Turkish state in the Syrian regions, and they are far from liberation and peace. The occupied territories expose the policy of genocide to prevent teaching in the Kurdish language and the suppression of the Yazidi religion and the killing of civilians."

Shiraz said that all the components of the north and east of Syria reject the attacks and the Turkish occupation of their areas, and the proof is their presence daily in the squares chanting the slogans of steadfastness, resistance, and the rejection of the Turkish occupation."
