Libya works to take measures against Turkey after arms , drug shipments

The adviser to the Speaker of the Libyan Parliament Fathi al-Marimi said that Libya is in the process of taking several measures against Turkey in the coming period.

The comments of the Advisor to the Speaker of the Libyan Parliament Fathi al-Marimi, told Sputnik and said that the Committees of Defense and National Security and Foreign Affairs in the Libyan parliament, will take some steps towards Turkey, through a meeting in parliament is supposed to be arranged in the coming days.

He said "Turkey is trying to block any Libyan steps towards stability, spreading chaos through the proliferation of weapons and materials ."

A few days ago, the Libyan Customs Service announced the seizure of about 20 thousand pistols inside a cargo container coming from Turkey, the port of Misrata Maritime, about 200 km east of the capital, Tripoli. According to a statement by the customs department in Misrata, the container contained some household items and children's toys in front of the container for camouflage, but after sorting the goods, 556 cartons were identified, 36 pistols per carton.

In December, the General Command of the Libyan armed forces called on the UN Security Council, the United Nations and its mission in Libya to condemn Turkey, "open an immediate investigation and take a serious stance on the commission of a terrorist crime by violating Security Council resolutions No. 1973 of 2011 on Libya , and Resolution No. 1373 of 2001 ".

Ahmed al-Musmari, a spokesman for the Libyan National Army  said "We hold Turkey responsible for destroying the bases of security and peace in Libya, assassinations in the ranks of the security forces, the army and lawyers, in addition to being involved in many terrorist attacks in the background of the seizure of a second shipment of weapons."
