Reuters reported that German Foreign Minister Haikou Mas said the US decision to withdraw from Syria was surprising and affects the war against IS.

He added ,"IS has been thwarted, but the threat is not over, there is a danger that the consequences of this decision will hurt the war on the Islamic state and undermine the successes that have already been achieved."

In a related context, the British government said that it is continuing its war against IS in Syria to ensure a full defeat.

The British government statement published on its website

"The United Kingdom continues to work with the member states in the alliance to achieve that goal," referring to US President Donald Trump's statement the announcement of the withdrawal of his troops from Syria "does not signal the end of the international coalition against IS or campaign against the threat he represents."

French Minister for European Affairs Natalie Lozou said Thursday that France "remains" militarily in Syria.

US President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that "the time has come" for the withdrawal of US troops from all of Syria.
