SDF revealed a day’s outcome of Battle to Defeat Terrorism

The media center of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) issued on Thursday a statement to the public opinion, revealing the outcome of a day of the battle to defeat terrorism which aims to liberate Hejin area, the last stronghold of IS east of the Euphrates River.

The statement said,

1- Baguz axis: The terrorist organization (Daesh) tried to organize the attack on the points of SDF with heavy weapons and booby-trapped vehicles. They attacked with three booby-trapped vehicles, but the attack was repelled by our fighters. The fighters managed to detonate one of the vehicles and hit the other which exploded in turn before reaching its targets, and as a result of the pressure caused by the explosion, two of our fighters were wounded, while the third vehicle blasted by the Coalition’s aircraft.

Violent clashes broke out between our forces (SDF) and elements of the terrorist organization (Daesh), killing eight terrorists. This is in addition to the fact that our forces carried out a tactical withdrawal from one of the points as elements of the terrorist organization infiltrated into it. The Coalition’s aircraft intervened and killed all infiltrators. Then, our fighters managed to install 3 new points in addition to the point where they withdrew from tactically.

Our forces advanced one km in this area after violent clashes lasted for an hour. After that, our fighters managed to install 9 other points. While the Coalition’s aircraft destroyed an ammunition depot and two terrorists’ vehicles in addition to destroying two vehicles and killing an Emir of Daesh.

Furthermore, a mine basted at one of our fighters, and that led to wounding him.

2- Hejin axis: Our forces were engaged in clashes with elements of the terrorist organization who were holed up inside the tunnels. Two of them tried to blow themselves up among our fighters, but our fighters managed to hit them and their explosive belts blew up away from our fighters.

In the result of that, the fighters closed the trenches that contained elements of IS and they combed the area. During the combing operation, two mines bombed inside the houses and they did not cause any damage. Moreover, our fighters seized a Dushka of 12.5 caliber and 2 Kalashnikovs.

As our forces advanced significantly in this axis, and combed a number of houses. In addition, 5 new points has been installed.

Due to the intensity of the mines planted by the terrorist organization in the area, our forces have proceeded cautiously, as mine-detonation machineries have managed to detonate 13 mines in the area.

3- The outcome of clashes and battles on all axes:

- The toll of the terrorist organization’s killed: /31/ Terrorists.

- The strikes of Coalition’s air force: /15/ strikes.

- The number of mines that exploded: /16/ mines.

- The weapons seized by our fighters: /1/ Dushka (12.5), /2/ Kalashnikovs.

- The points that were installed: /17/ points.

- The losses of the terrorist organization: A mortar cannon, /2/ ammunition warehouses, /5/ booby trapped vehicles, /2/ cars and a tunnel were destroyed.

- The number of wounded fighters: /3/ fighters.
