The Euphrates region witnessed heavy rainfall last week in various areas which negatively impacted the farmers and inflicted significant damage to their agricultural crops.

According to the farmers, the recent heavy rainfall and the floods damaged 90% of the agricultural season throughout the canton.

The farmers have noted that wheat and beans’ crops have been completely damaged. Some crops’ varieties have been severely affected; latency crop was damaged by 90% rate, wheat and barley yield of 85% and beans yield by 100% all over the canton, in addition to the vegetables’ crop that has been fully exposed to damage without exception.

In this context, the farmer Khalil Youssef said, "The unusually heavy rains affected all our crops; wheat, barley, cumin, beans and all kinds of vegetables.

The co-chair of the Agriculture Committee Abdullah al-Khalil stressed that they would try to help the farmers as much as possible financially and morally in the canton.
