1,311 killed in Sweida, calls for comprehensive international investigation

The death toll from the military escalation in Sweida has risen to 1,311, including 196 field executions, amid calls for an international investigation into the massacres and violations committed.

In a preliminary toll of the military escalation in Sweida, southern Syria, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights announced that the death toll from the clashes has risen to 1,311, including 196 who were executed in the field.

According to the Observatory, the toll is as follows:

637 people were killed in Sweida Governorate, including 104 civilians (including 6 children and 16 women).

456 members of the Ministries of Defense and Public Security, including 32 members of the Bedouin tribes and a Lebanese militant.

15 members of the ministries were killed in Israeli airstrikes.

Three people, including a woman, were killed in an Israeli airstrike on the Ministry of Defense building.

One journalist was killed during the clashes.

196 people were summarily executed by Defense and Interior Ministry forces, including 28 women, 8 children, and an elderly man.

Three members of the Bedouin tribe, including a child and a woman, were executed by Druze gunmen.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights called for an independent international investigation through a specialized UN committee to investigate all violations and crimes committed in Sweida and hold those responsible from all sides accountable, ensuring justice and redress for victims and preventing the recurrence of massacres.
