12 killed in ongoing violence across Syria in 24 hours

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights today, two former commanders of an Iran-backed armed group were shot dead by an armed group in the Al-Firdous neighborhood of Aleppo, raising the death toll in Syria over the past 24 hours to 12.

A man and his wife, both from the Alawite sect, were also killed after being shot by gunmen while inside a shop near Al-Aseel roundabout in the city of Homs.

Another man was stabbed to death with a sharp object by his wife in the village of Al-Ghandoura in the eastern countryside of Jarablus, Aleppo, with the motives behind the crime still unknown.

Two young men were shot dead by gunmen suspected of belonging to ISIS near the Euphrates River in the town of Al-Baghuz in Deir ez-Zor countryside.

A man was killed when a bullet was accidentally discharged from a weapon he was cleaning inside his home in the city of Al-Qusayr in Homs countryside.

Another man was killed by his cousins in the village of Al-Ajouziyah in the eastern countryside of Maskanah, Aleppo, following a dispute over a water canal.

A former member of the Russia-backed Fifth Corps was shot and killed by unidentified gunmen in the Al-Aliyat neighborhood of Saalu village, east of Deir ez-Zor.

Two individuals died under torture in the prisons of the Syrian Transitional Government. They had been detained about three months ago in the Al-Sinaa area of Homs.
