The convoys have included several areas in the countryside of Serekaniye, Tal Tamr, and Zarghan.

1,099 Families Return in First Two Convoys

Around 410 families returned to the southern countryside of Serekaniye in the first convoy, which departed on August 10, as part of efforts to facilitate the return of displaced people to their areas and villages.

On September 8, the second convoy departed, carrying 689 families to the eastern countryside of Serekaniye, as well as areas in the countryside of Tal Tamr and Zarghan. The number of families who have returned through the two convoys has thus reached around 1,099.

Returnees face challenges primarily due to the extensive destruction of homes and villages, as well as the lack of basic necessities, particularly drinking water and electricity. This has made it more difficult for residents to settle and resume normal life.

Road conditions pose another obstacle for returnees, particularly as main roads remain closed in several areas, especially those that were located along military front lines in previous years. The closures make it difficult for residents to travel to nearby towns and centers and complicate efforts to deliver basic necessities and services to areas where residents have returned.

Calls to Ensure Conditions for Stability

Returnees are calling for the urgent reopening of main roads to enable them to travel and reach neighboring towns. They are also appealing to government institutions, humanitarian organizations, and relevant authorities to provide support and assistance and ensure basic services, particularly water and electricity.

They are also calling for efforts to remove the effects of destruction and rehabilitate infrastructure and roads to help residents resettle in their areas.

Around 12,000 Families Await Return

According to the Serekaniye Displaced Persons Committee, around 13,000 families from the city and its countryside remain displaced, with most living in different areas of the Jazira , as well as in Kobani and other areas, after being displaced from their homes in previous years.

With 1,099 displaced families having returned to their villages, nearly 12,000 families are awaiting return before the winter season.

New Convoy Planned for Next Week

A new convoy of displaced people is scheduled to depart next week as part of the gradual return program. Additional convoys are expected to continue in the coming period to facilitate the return of more residents to their areas and villages.
