The collection of signatures demanding the physical freedom of leader Abdullah Ocalan in Aleppo ended with the collection of 105,675 signatures.

On February 9, the Popular Initiative for the Freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan in NE Syria launched a campaign to collect signatures to be sent to the Council of the European Union, demanding the physical freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan.

In this regard, the committees in charge of collecting signatures announced, during a statement the end of collecting signatures in Aleppo.

The statement was read in both languages; Arabic by the member of the General Council of the Democratic Union Party, Mayada Arabo, and Kurdish by the co-chair of the Democratic Society Training and Education Committee, Manan Jaafar, in the presence of male and female members of civil institutions and political parties in Afrin Park, located in the Ashrafieh neighborhood in the city of Aleppo.

"The people of NE Syria started collecting signatures because they are the people of the leader, and to guarantee their physical freedom, we have been present in the squares for years."

The statement indicated that "one of these global events demanding the leader's physical freedom is the campaign to collect signatures, which was the demand of peoples yearning for freedom, with the participation of all political parties, institutions and organizations in all regions of NE Syria."

The statement noted, "The signatures will be sent to the European Security Council, while the Committee Against Torture (CPT), and the Committee does not make any statement about this thing."

The statement called on the organizations and CPT to “act in accordance with their standards and laws."

The statement stressed, "We must end isolation through our struggle. Our goal is not only to receive information from our leader, but to guarantee the leader's physical freedom."

The statement explained, "The signatures collected were not only from the Kurds, but from various other components as well."

 The statement announced the outcome of the signatures: “ The campaign ended in the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh with the participation of all components and achieved its goal that was planned, about 105,675 signatures were collected.”
