Syrian Women's Council celebrates its seventh anniversary
The Syrian Women's Council celebrated its seventh anniversary, amid praise from women's organizations and political parties in the North and East Syria region and the rest of the Syrian regions, for the efforts made by the council to unify women's discourse.
On the occasion of the seventh anniversary of the founding of the Syrian Women's Council, the council organized a celebration today (September 8) with the attendance of representatives of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, figures from the Syrian Democratic Council and political parties, and members of the Internal Security Forces - Women.
The celebration was held in al-Bustan Hall in the center of Raqqa city, where several speeches were delivered on behalf of the Syrian Women's Council, the Women's Council in North and East Syria, the Green Idlib Council, and the Democratic People's Council, in addition to two speeches on behalf of women in As-Suwayda and Idlib.
'It brings all Syrian women together under its umbrella'
The speech of the Syrian Women's Council came from the spokesperson of the Council, Suhaila al-Sanuh, where she said: "On this day (September 8) of the year 2017, from the city of Manbij, the establishment of the Syrian Women's Council was announced, which came as a culmination of the struggle and sacrifices of thousands of Syrian women."
Suhaila stressed that the Council brings together all Syrian women from different components, in a beautiful painting with the scent of femininity, noting that their goal is focused on strengthening civil peace, especially in areas of displacement and migration on Syrian lands, and they have always sought to stop the war and participate politically in finding a solution to the Syrian crisis.
For her part, the Women's Coordinator Sabah Shabo, on behalf of the Women's Council in North and East Syria, congratulated the Syrian Women's Council on the occasion of its seventh anniversary, and said: "Women in North and East Syria have become a prominent example to be emulated in the Middle East and the world, as a result of the efforts and sacrifices they have made over the past years and are still continuing to make more."
While the co-chair of the Democratic Peoples' Council of North and East Syria, Siham Qaryyo, congratulated all Syrian women on the anniversary of the founding of the Syrian Women's Council, she mentioned what Syrian women have been exposed to since the beginning of the crisis, and drew attention to the gains of women in the North and East Syria region after they organized their ranks, established their own institutions, and took their place in all fields.
'A bridge for communication and dialogue between all Syrian women'
For her part, the co-chair of the Green Idlib Council, Dima al-Taha, indicated that women in northwestern Syria have shown unparalleled strength and determination, and have always been at the forefront of human rights defenders and peacebuilding.
She added: "Today, through the Syrian Women's Council, we aim to enhance participation and unify efforts to empower and support women in various fields," and continued, saying: "We believe that the Syrian Women's Council will be a bridge for communication and dialogue between women in all regions of Syria."
Unifying Women's Discourse
While the head of the National Liberal Party, Diaa Obeid, congratulated the Syrian Women's Council on its seventh anniversary, she said about the council: "It was born from the suffering of Syrian women during the eradication of ISIS in northern and eastern Syria, where the Syrian Women's Council took it upon itself to unify the Syrian women's discourse, support the Syrian revolution that demands freedom and change, and build a decentralized democratic system based on women's freedom and equality in all areas of life."
While the spokesperson for the Syrian Women's Council in As-Suwayda, Ghada Raslan, sent a video clip from the middle of al-Karamah Square in Sweida, in which she indicated their constant endeavor to unify women's efforts and emphasize the Syrian identity.
For her part, the spokesperson for the Syrian Women's Council in the United Arab Emirates, Asmaa Kaftaro, expressed her hope to achieve societal integration after verifying the harsh events facing Syrian women and finding ways to solve them and bring the country to safety.
After that, a video clip was shown that simulated the suffering of women under the occupation of ISIS, and the celebration ended with the presentation of singing segments.
