Jurist; demographic change must be stopped
A human rights activist confirmed that what the Turkish occupation state is doing in the occupied territories violates the articles of the Fourth Geneva Convention, especially Article (49), so the people must adhere to their land, so as not to give the Turkish occupation state an opportunity to change its demographics.
Human rights activist Mustafa Muslim said: “The Turkish occupation state is not satisfied with occupying Syrian lands, but is working to implement dangerous plans, as it follows a policy of demographic change by displacing the indigenous population from the areas it occupies to other areas and settling settlers in them, especially those who implement its plans and become its weapon in directed the people of the region, thus violating all international laws and standards agreed upon by international powers in Article (49) of the Fourth Geneva Convention.”
Muslim stressed that: “International law explicitly prohibits the transfer or deportation of individuals from their places of residence except with certain exceptions that can be considered legitimate cases of deportation, which are when there is actually a necessity to transfer them temporarily so that they later return to their homeland, and these exceptions do not exist in the case of the Turkish occupation state.” Which goes beyond all human values and international laws, as it plays with the demographics of the region in plain view of everyone. For example, deporting settlers and building settlements with Qatari money through suspicious organizations in the occupied city of Afrin is unacceptable and contrary to all values and laws.”
Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention prohibits mass forcible transfer, as well as the deportation of protected persons from occupied territories to the territory of the occupying state, or to the territory of any other occupied or non-occupying state, and it is prohibited regardless of its motives.
Muslim added: "It is the responsibility of jurists and everyone related to the laws to document the violations committed by the Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries on an almost daily basis in the occupied territories. Demographic change is a major crime according to international law and must be stopped immediately."
Muslim noted that: “What is happening today in the occupied territories is similar to what happened 100 years ago when Greater Kurdistan was divided into four parts, with the blessing of European countries that today open their doors to immigrants and turn a blind eye to the crimes of the occupying state that represents them today and offers them golden opportunities in The occupied territories. Today, most European countries suffer from a labor shortage, and the arrival of young immigrants to them is a great opportunity to cover this shortage. Therefore, the people of the region must adhere to their land and not think about immigration, which gives the occupying state great opportunities to occupy the region and change its demographics.
