All the organizations, movements, institutions and political parties of women in northern and eastern Syria held their first meeting to discuss the situation of women in Zana lounge in Qamishlo city.
After extensive discussions on the situation of women in the north and east of Syria in all social, organizational, political and other aspects, and the negative effects of the mentality of mercenaries on women during the control of mercenaries in the region and discussing ways of developing women and eliminating them from negative aspects established by IS, the meeting concluded by issuing a statement which included:
"At the initiative of Kongra Star and with the aim of establishing a mechanism for the joint work of women and to preserve the gains achieved by women in the north and east of Syria, and after meetings with women's organizations in political parties, women's organizations and women's councils and representatives of all components in the north and east of Syria. The 1st meeting for women held in the north and east of Syria in the city of Qamishlo on 2019/3/13.
The meeting included representatives of 21 political parties and representatives of 23 women's organizations and women's councils, in the presence of the Women's Coordination in the Autonomous Administration in North and East Syria and representatives of the Syrian Women's Council (MSD) under the slogan "With Women Unification we will Build a Free Democratic Society".
The meeting began with holding a minute of silence in memory of the lives of the martyrs. A divan of five comrades was formed. The importance of this step was discussed where all the participants stressed that women in North and East Syria have played a leading role and achieved social renaissance during the last seven years.
However, there is still a need to intensify efforts to achieve a just life in our society. Therefore, a system that unites the vision and will of women in northern and eastern Syria must be formed. It is a great and strategic step to protect women's gains in North and East Syria during these years and to guarantee women's social, political and constitutional rights in the future Syria.
After serious discussions, participants agreed to name this system as "Women's Council in North and East of Syria".
In conclusion, a preparatory committee consisting of 9 representatives of women's components and organizations was formed to prepare the relevant documents for this council and submit them to the next meeting for discussion and finalization. "
